Indexing Methods

Database indexes improve the speed of data retrieval operations on a database table at the cost of additional writes and storage space to maintain the index data structure. Indexes are used to improve data navigation without having to search every row in a database table every time a database table is accessed.

RDM supports four different types of indexes that the user can choose to use with their database. These types are: B-tree, R-Tree, Hash and AVL. Each has their own ideal use cases and performance benefits in different indexing scenarios.
